Sara Velder and Up River Quilters.

Today I received 2 parcels from Up River Quilters, in Willawarin,N.S.W. They contained several quilt tops and blocks for our cause. Thank-you to Ruth Allsop for sending them along with 2 very nice cards.
Also 2 boxes from Sara Velder of Elmwood,N.E.  USA. There was no note in these boxes to say who made the quilts,tops and blocks  but you know who you are and I hope you recognise some of them.

There are a nice selection of blocks in this lot.

There are enough of these to make one or two complete quilts.

Anther nice quilt topthese are a good size for a single bed.





Pretty purples  and white.

This is a nice knee rug sized finished quilt.

A nice I spy quilt with cats and dogs all over it. Very good. This quilt came in its own pillow slip.

Arlene Tribble

Two boxes have arrived from Arlene Tribble of Mc henry IL.

On top of the first box was this beautiful quilt top all ready for me o get serious on. Look at those georgous tulips in the fabric!!

Look at these sweet pastel blocks,very nice.

Look at the sunbonnet Sue blocks some appliqued ,some stitched,andsome nice orphan blocks.

Lots of nice rail fence blocks.

Don't they just lay out really well,even without sorting into matching sets.

There are some beautiful blocks amongst this lot. there was a letter in one of the boxes with this information.Quilting Stars of Ohio -quilt guild in Canton. We are donating :
22 rail fence blocks.
7 small miscelaneous blocks.
15 large miscelaneous blocks.
This looks like them to me.

New boxes arrive.

Firstly I would like to thank Tanya Smith from Canada.Her husband had a bake sale at his bank to make funds to cover postage. There was some left over and Tanya sent it to me by paypal to help pay for the batting.It worked well and the money is in my paypal account.Thank you to all the bank staff who baked and   brought cakes and slices.

Today we have another box from  Jan Dahlke of Team West. Another beauty!!

These mauve and green rail fence blocks are from Patsy Nedrow.thanks Patsy.

This will be a lovely quilt.

There were  65 assorted rail fence blocks from Shelly Nealon. won't we have fun with those.

21 more mixed pieced blocks from Shelley Nealan,these will make a lovely festive quilt.

Also in this selection is  21/4 yards blue "people" fabric from Jan Dahlke of Weed, C.A. and another 61/2  yards panel fabric "folk Art" also from Jan (see the top of the picture). Jan has been very generous with her time and her donations to our cause. We have been having some lovely conversations along the way.A very big thank-you for your friendship Jan.

Hello all. Denise found this orphan applique block someone had half finished with the applique and then put into a carton for us.

Here is what she did with it.

And in just one week.the photo does not do the top justice.It is beautiful,so thank-you who ever you are for an inspirational block. This orphan has found a very good home LOL.
We had a working bee here at my studio today,and by the time I thought to take photos we had nearly packed up. But her are some more show and tell- every time we meet the girls bring along their finished tops.



Janet picked up 10 crazy patch blocks a couple of weeks ago and took them home. She placed 9 of them into square in a square blocks and then along comes this georgous quilt. Now we have another orphan block :)

I received a package today from Stephanie Patterson of  Windser C.O.

It is a lovely box of goodies here is Mary holding up a nice

boys quilt with tigers,leopards and such on it. What a beauty.It has been slotted into the pile of kids quilts for my friend Glenda to collect on Thursday to take home to quilt for us.Nice one and thank-you to the provider who also provided the backing.

The bundles of blocks were very quickly picked up and deposited into bags to take home to be worked on. Arent all the different colours beautiful?



Some of the girls at the workshop today are from left Sandra,Carolyn,Kaye,Jenny in the green top,Freda seated. Mary,Lyn,Janet,and Denise.

We had a very productive day,adding borders to make larger tops,matching and cutting backing for tops.sorting out our blocks ,sashing fabric and backing fabric.In the meantime I quilted 2 tops .One has gone off for binding the other one is here for Thursday.

I am waiting on a load of batting. I ordered 8 rolls from Victorian Textiles who manufacture Matilda's Own battings. I believe they are one of the best brands on the market.My credit card took a hit but you get that.The local carrier is bringing the batting back from Melbourne for free on a back load and Janine's husband Simon will brin it out in his ute and trailer. Yippee. things are moving nicely.

your very own Neil Diamond whos concert I had the pleasure of attending on Saturday night.

It was fabulous.



 

Busy weekend

Hello everyone.
I have had a busy weekend.On Saturday I was lucky enough to go to Melbourne and enjoyed a concert by Americas own  Neil Diamond. He is still a great performer and 2hrs plus on stage is good for my money.I am not used to the big city but Iput on my big girls hat and  drove down and back with no problems.
Yesterday e had a Statler gathering in Bendigo.about 1 hrs drive away. We spoke about the support our friends in USA are giving us and how wonderful it is to be a part of it all.
I handed out 58 tops plus blocks and backings to have quilted.It was wonderful. I have ordered $1500.00 worth of batting from Victorian Textiles today. I have funding for $750.00 at this stage.I will have to go see the service clubs and ask for some help.

Birgid Thomson from Canmore AB sent these  lovely quilt blocks and I cannot wait to see them in a quilt. I love the rusty fabric that has what looks like fireworks on it. Very nice Birgid and thank-you.

This beautiful baby cot quilt was made and quilted by Tanya Smith herself along with the binding and many other blocks and all the organising it took to get these all here to us. Tanya's husband organised a Bake Sale at the bank where he works and raised money for the postage.How good is that!! 

Well ladies you have done yourself proud I hope I can live up to my end of the bargain.

Hello everyone. I have been very busy collecting  a lovely huge box from Tanya Smith of Banff Canada. 1 box from Jan Copeland and 2 more from Jan Dahlke.I have tried to take photos but the girls in Bendigo were whisking them off as quick as they hit the floor. So here goes.This is a lovely selection of blocks including enough for 2 basket quilts.

More blocks out of the boxes. The girls were so enthusiastic at taking them out of the boxes and gathering sets to take home that I have gotten a bit confused as to who sent what.I hope you ladies see your lovely blocks and know that we appreciate them very much.



Post office Offerings.

Hello all I have had a busy few days .We had another workshop at the church hall and finished another 6 tops yesterday. I forgot to take my camera so no photos I am sorry to say.
Today I went to the Post Office and picked up 2 big boxes.

 The first one is from Jan Copeland of Patchwork Plus Wood River Il. USA In it was 4 completed tops with backings and a set of crazy patch blocks and 2 orphan blocks.

Beautiful selection thank-you very much Jan.

Then there was this box from Mary Giarratano of Lakewood,Colorado,USA

it contained three plastic packages. The first from Debbie Adams.

It is a king size bow tie block quilt top. Absolutely stunning Debbie Our thanks go to you .

As the nominated cut off day has come I expect I will get more of these lovely boxes each day for the next few weeks. I am off to Bendigo agin tomorrow. I look forward to every day.
