Working Bee.

Organised chaos. Lucky someone knows what is going on LOL.As you can see it is afternoon tea.

It is amazing how much we achieved today. Bindings on 7 quilts,borders on another 7 several tops assembled,and about a dozen projects assembled.

Workshops

We had a little workshop the other day and was sorting out some blocks to make into tops.

Along comes Sandra with 2 more finished tops. Sandra loved the fabric in these blocks and when she saw the fabric for the outer border she jumped on it. One week later here we are!!

Then there was this  block of the month set. When her eyes lit upon this Sandra just couldn't wait she is always up to a challenge. There were 2 plastic bags. The first had 11 completed blocks and  1 set of fabric and directions. 

The second had the fabric and instructions to complete the top. Here it is. Do you recognise it? Please let me know if you do.

The girls from 2 Maldon quilt groops took a box each of blocks and the tops are beginning to arrive back at the studio.Below are some examples. I am hoping to get some photos of workshops from Debbie Mc Donald of Maldon Village Patchers to put on the blog.

Do you recognise this block?

Hello all. Denise found this orphan applique block someone had half finished with the applique and then put into a carton for us.

Here is what she did with it.

And in just one week.the photo does not do the top justice.It is beautiful,so thank-you who ever you are for an inspirational block. This orphan has found a very good home LOL.
We had a working bee here at my studio today,and by the time I thought to take photos we had nearly packed up. But her are some more show and tell- every time we meet the girls bring along their finished tops.



Janet picked up 10 crazy patch blocks a couple of weeks ago and took them home. She placed 9 of them into square in a square blocks and then along comes this georgous quilt. Now we have another orphan block :)

I received a package today from Stephanie Patterson of  Windser C.O.

It is a lovely box of goodies here is Mary holding up a nice

boys quilt with tigers,leopards and such on it. What a beauty.It has been slotted into the pile of kids quilts for my friend Glenda to collect on Thursday to take home to quilt for us.Nice one and thank-you to the provider who also provided the backing.

The bundles of blocks were very quickly picked up and deposited into bags to take home to be worked on. Arent all the different colours beautiful?



Some of the girls at the workshop today are from left Sandra,Carolyn,Kaye,Jenny in the green top,Freda seated. Mary,Lyn,Janet,and Denise.

We had a very productive day,adding borders to make larger tops,matching and cutting backing for tops.sorting out our blocks ,sashing fabric and backing fabric.In the meantime I quilted 2 tops .One has gone off for binding the other one is here for Thursday.

I am waiting on a load of batting. I ordered 8 rolls from Victorian Textiles who manufacture Matilda's Own battings. I believe they are one of the best brands on the market.My credit card took a hit but you get that.The local carrier is bringing the batting back from Melbourne for free on a back load and Janine's husband Simon will brin it out in his ute and trailer. Yippee. things are moving nicely.

your very own Neil Diamond whos concert I had the pleasure of attending on Saturday night.

It was fabulous.



 

Working Bee in Maryborough

Today we had our first working bee in Maryborough. I took along the box from Holly Potvin  of Bears Paws Quilting. and some other blocks donated by ladies in W.A. and other parts of the USA and Australia.

Carolyn did a wonderful job of sorting blocks into quilt tops. Lyn not pictured sewed borders on half of these blocks and now we have a vibrant quilt top ready for quilting. Denise is sorting out some bears paw blocks and Jenny is manipulating a blue set.  In the far background is Kaye putting a border on the top to make it a little bigger. Carolyn designed and sorted all day. Her eye for what to make of things is really good.You did a great job Carolyn.

Denise is going off to get lunch and Lynette is cutting out sashings in the kitchen.See the piles of sorted blocks into tops on the bench?

Lynette is putting together some light and bright crazy pieced blocks alternating with some plain yellow squares. Lynette took this one and 2 others home to do during the week.



Lyn is getting a quilt top together to take home and finish off.

This is me doing what I like best Supervising.LOL. Not really ! We got most of the blocks into sets and the girls took home a couple each to work on. We put borders on 3 tops and completed 3 tops from scratch. I have 5 sets to drop off at my nieces tomorrow to go to Pyramid Hill to a workshop.Not much left in that box now. We have done well.
